The idea was to illustrate the sound of a song using only it’s lyrics. I chose a song by one of my favourite indie rock bands, The Kooks. I hand-drew my own typeface which I then made in to a vector alphabet, before laying it out in a way that expressed the ups and downs of the voices and the melody, the blending of the harmony, and the harsh and soft parts of the song. Varying the color and the use of outlines and fills, I tried to express the sound of the music and the voices as they work together,
working around eachother and blending together every once in a while. By the end of the song everything sort of fades out so the colour disappears and you’re left with just the sorrow and the emptiness, illustrated in outlined lettering.
